Ferrari 400 power window switch compatibility

What better to post the next day after posting about parts for sale. A new compatibility part item that was brought to my attention. A few weeks ago I had a very nice and interesting meet up with a few folks. One guy mentioned he recognized the window switch used in my 400. He instantly recognized it and said it belonged to a Mercedes W108, W109, W111, W114 and W115 series from the seventies.

I had this checked and in fact it's the button used to control the sunroof with part nr 15073100
Apparently it's also used as a sunroof switch in a Porsche 911/9212 but that one does not have a chrome bezel (it's black). 

This also explains the typical pictogram used on this switch. The Ferrari part nr is 257-80-860-00

it's only used in the 400 and 400i phase 1.

MAUTO - Aldo Brovarone exposition - Ferrari 412

 Currently there is a exposition in the MAUTO museum in Torino about Aldo Brovarone.

Not visible in their posting but I have seen from other sources the following drawing is presented in this expostion:

I wonder if Aldo did had any design involvement in the uplifted design for the 412. As might be known he's responsible for the Lancia Gamma Coupe which has the same classic Pininfarina C-pilar characteristic as the 400 series.

I did happen to have met him in the past in the same museum but back then I was unaware of this drawing, else I certainly would have asked. 

Update 25 Oct 2026: I checked his book and there is no mention of any design involvement for the 412. He was however responsible for the 365GT 2+2 (Queen Mary) to name one.

German magazine : Octane Sammlerausgabe September 2026 - Ferrari 412 + Rockstar car

Thanks to my car buddy Jos I obtained this German edition of the Octane Magazine. It has two seperate articles about the 400 series. The first one is about the 412 and the 2nd one is a translated article which was published in this UK Octane version:

Ferrari 400i Service

Just spotted this while browsing around. It's a tiny archive regarding service work on a 400i by a USA company from earlier this year. Hi all-

Out of necessity, I’ve created a replacement for my faulty 400i automatic transmission microswitch (Ferrari p/n 106603), which activates the downshift solenoid on full throttle. If you are in need of the switch and haven’t been able to find a good assembly, I can make more and will probably create a listing on eBay so it’s easy to find. I understand it to be used on 308, 400GT and 400i… I think the 412 went to a different design.

I spotted this Ferrari 400i in the background on this exhibition dedicated to Sergio Pininfarina. Quite surprised to see the 400 was presented. Just adding it here for the records.
